Lilypie 4th Birthday Ticker

Quotable Quotes from Xavier

While Curtis and I were in Las Vegas, Xavier stayed with his Grandmama and Granddaddy and his Mema.

The first day we were gone, Xavier was playing with his Grandmama. The Browns have an old gumball machine in their entryway, and Xavier wanted to play with the "balls" that were inside. Being quite the sorter, Xavier started organizing the gumballs.

He looked at a group of them and said, "Grandmama, those colorful balls make a triangle."

So smart!

A New Big Boy Bed

So, Xavier is doing so well with the potty training (see the first picture - going potty after wearing big boy pants for his nap), we decided it may be time for a big boy bed.
Thank goodness, Xavier has never tried to climb out of his crib. So, my intention was to keep him in there as long as I could. But, I cannot risk Xavier regressing with his potty training to do so. So, we all went to Babies R Us and bought a brand new toddler bed.
Xavier helped Curtis and I put it together . . . kind of. Actually, he lost some of the screws and it took us 15 minutes to find them.
Here it is, all done. Xavier wanted to test it out.

We let him "sleep" in his big boy bed that night. Of course, he didn't sleep at all. He had a party, upstairs, by himself. He slammed doors, ran from room to room, slammed more doors and had a grand time with his first taste of freedom. Finally, after two hours, I went up to his room only to find him and his bed COVERED with about 250 of my scrapbook letters from the room over the garage. Needless to say, he spent the remainder of the night in his crib, and we haven't attempted it since. Xavier is sick this week - first a bout of food poisoning (we think) and now a bad cold that he caught from his Daddy. So, once everything is back to normal, we will try again. Any suggestions for keeping a 2 1/2 year old in his bed?
