Well, we made it home from our vacation safe and sound. It was a very exciting and successful trip all around. Some places we will visit again, and some places we won't, but we enjoyed every minute of it. I think this was a good 1st vacation for Xavier. He did so well - all of the hours in the carseat, the nights away from his crib, a lot of sightseeing and all on a lot less sleep than he gets when he is at home. We were quite proud of our little man!
So, I took 227 pictures, and a handful of movies, but here is a sampling of some of my favorites from the 10 days we were away.
Here is Xavier giving Miss Becca (who he met for the first time on this trip) "love and hugs". We had such a nice visit with Becca in Raleigh. It was so much fun seeing her again, and hopefully, she will visit us in Blythewood soon!
Xavier slept in his pack 'n' play (for the last time because he only had about an inch to spare) every night, all night, with hardly any awakenings! He did so well!
Curtis and I in Colonial Williamsburg . . . the last time I did this was in 5th grade! It was quite different this time around!
One of the many beautiful flowers from the Governor's Mansion gardens in Colonial Williamsburg. It was such a nice, peaceful place . . . and Xavier slept the WHOLE time in his stroller - an hour and a half!
Xavier in his first visit to the Washington Monument in downtown DC.
One of the tigers at the National Zoo - isn't he beautiful?! We really enjoyed the zoo and highly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting the DC area.
Xavier and his Daddy at Xavier's very 1st Chicago Cubs baseball game - against the DC Nationals - and they WON! Is that not the CUTEST smile you've ever seen?!
Mommy and Xavier on Xavier's 1st subway ride . . . He LOVED it! He loved watching for the trains and he loved standing on the seats checking out all the people!
Curtis and Xavier checking out the view from one end of the Chesapeake Bay bridge - now that was an experience!
My beautiful baby boy playing in the sand at Virginia Beach. He loved it . . . but he would not go into the VERY COLD ocean! Who could blame him?!
Okay, so he wasn't happy every minute of the trip . . . This was our last full day of vacation and Xavier was a little irritable. Did I mention he has 3 molars coming in?! Ugh!
Here, we were in Kitty Hawk, NC on the Outer Banks. Xavier, Curtis and I were watching a crab, right next to our towels, clean out his little home. He kept coming up, throwing dirt out, and running back inside. But, in the meantime, he would stop to look at all of us. Xavier loved waiting for him to come out. If you look at the picture closely, you can see the crab to the left of Xavier's hand. Too funny!
Quotable Quotes from Xavier
While Curtis and I were in Las Vegas, Xavier stayed with his Grandmama and Granddaddy and his Mema.
The first day we were gone, Xavier was playing with his Grandmama. The Browns have an old gumball machine in their entryway, and Xavier wanted to play with the "balls" that were inside. Being quite the sorter, Xavier started organizing the gumballs.
He looked at a group of them and said, "Grandmama, those colorful balls make a triangle."
So smart!
