On May 19, my family came over to celebrate Mother's Day, my birthday, and Bruce's girlfriend, Dana's, birthday. Bruce was in the Dominican Republic over Mother's Day and my birthday, so we had to postpone them a bit. Everyone came to our house for a cookout, some family time and some gifts. We even got a family picture made! Aside from Xey's mismatched socks, don't ask, it turned out really good!
During the weekend of May 22, Curtis, Xavier and I went down to Charleston for the weekend. Curtis' cousin, Calen, got married down there, so we took a weekend trip. We went to Folly for the day to test out Xavier's new found love of the ocean. Yes, he still had it, even though the water was FREEZING COLD!!!
Xavier will be taking swim lessons this summer for the first time. We've been talking about it and for some reason, he got it in his head that he needs goggles to swim. So, here they are - quite cute, I think. He also convinced us that he needed to try out one of our scuba masks and snorkels. He was surprisingly good at "snorkeling"!
For weeks now, Xavier has been BEGGING me to help make cupcakes. I think he just wanted to use sprinkles, but he was really into it. He helped me every step of the way - putting the liners in the pan, pouring the mix, cracking the eggs, stirring the batter, putting them in the oven, and lining the cupcakes on the racks to cool. He was a BIG helper and he had a blast!
Another big day for Xavier was June 11 - he went to see his first movie in a big theater! We went to see Madagascar 2 with my friend Elizabeth and Laura Katherine. Much to my surprise, not only did Xavier love every minute of it, but he ate his weight in popcorn!
